The Development Of The Situation In The Palestinian Territories |
The Committee on Arab and Foreign Affairs and National Security -As it backs the wise policy of President Mubarak in dealing with the outbursting problems in the Middle East particularly the Palestinian problem, and his continuous and persisting efforts to gain international support , and his direct contact endeavours with all the concerned international parties and under sharp estimation of the probable consequences to contain the deteriorating situation so as not to let widen the circle of instability in the Middle East . -And as it indicates that President Mubarak’s current European tour has taken place in the right time due to the aggravated tension and violence as well as the deteriorating situation in Iraq . -And as it hails the President’s statements that express his adherence to achieve lasting , just and comprehensive peace for all the peoples of the region particularly his assertion that terrorism cannot be controlled except through peace and justice and that all parties should shoulder their responsibility to avoid the collapse of peace process in the Middle East . -And as it expresses its deep concern about the severe deterioration in the Israeli–Palestinian situation under the hostile attitudes of Sharon’s government that threatens to take irresponsible measures that could lead to disastrous consequences. The Committee; thus, asserts on the following : 1- The policies of the Israeli Likud government are responsible for the situation the region reached. The road –map applying process had started and the Palestinian factions had been committed to cease fire. However, Israel never stopped hindering the road –map process and attempting to jockey its commitments by using armed violence and by outrageously breaching the truce and assassinating the Palestinian figures which led to the explosion of the whole situation . 2-The Israeli government’s decision to send President Arafat out of Palestine is but a continuation of irresponsible policies. Not anyone has the right to send a president democratically elected out of his homeland in an age of democracy and such decision are not to be accepted as they echo failure in the peaceful process and indicate the absence of a vision capable of dealing with the others except for these acts that lead to nothing but more blood and more violence . 3- All the international parties concerned with the problem or having interests in the region must seriously move not only to prevent the implementation of such decisions but to stop all forms of irresponsible practices as well. First of these parties is the U.S.A. that has to take a frank and more obvious declared attitude towards the practices of the Israeli government to stop violence and unilateral moves and towards an urgent return to the political process with determined guarantees capable of preventing the collapse. The quatrain commission has to endeavour to stop this deterioration and to help implement the road-map as previously approved. 4-Calling upon the European countries to concentrate their efforts now to stop the current deterioration and to press for achieving progress being a principal partner in formulating and observing the implementation of the road-map plan. This gives importance to President Mubarak’s visit to Italy that holds the presidency seat of the E.U. and to France both having attitudes of special influence.
5-Palestinians
are demanded now than ever to politically unite and to solve their inner
differences so as not to give a chance to any party to allege not to
fulfill its commitments or to exert pressures that could endanger the
Palestinian cause |
